Re: Visopsys 0.84 - [NEW INSTRUCTIONS] Init failed while booting as a Virtual Floppy from coreboot/SeaBIOS

The feature I've been working on (UTF-8 and wide-character support throughout the OS) the small details are taking me a little bit longer to finish off than I thought (life, 2 small kids, and all that :violin:) but I am still doing this next! :shifty:

Re: Visopsys 0.84 - [NEW INSTRUCTIONS] Init failed while booting as a Virtual Floppy from coreboot/SeaBIOS

Hi qmastery! Thanks for the update. You've been very patient, thanks - I know I promised to look at this a while ago. I'm just finishing off a feature for 0.9 now - in the next day or two - and then I will start trying with this. If I can get it to work, I will do a 0.85 release with that as a new f...

Re: Visopsys discussion forum

I have taken a stab at designing my whole hard drive and introduce the operating system. I made a boot menu and each time I attempt to boot from hd0a the boot procedure never commences. I attempted form 0.70 and 0.69. I attempted commonly however it simply hasn't worked. I am simply utilizing one p...

Visopsys 0.84 released

There is a new minor release available from the download page https://visopsys.org/download/ . To summarize, this is a collection of patches that have been back-ported as I work on the 0.9 version. It's mostly under-the-hood (under-the-bonnet for my British friends) stuff that wouldn't be very notic...

Re: Introduce Yourself

Are you also a private pilot? I was looking over some of the introduction posts and thought that was the case. Yes, I earned a private license back in the day, but I haven't done much flying since I moved to the UK 16 years ago - just the odd one at a flight school, with an instructor. I'm not curr...

Re: Porting GCC to Visopsys?

The devil is in the details as they says. Once I started figuring out what it would actually take to perform those steps, I quietly decided to abandon the project. Ha! Well, thanks for looking into it :P It will probably be a lot easier for me, once I get around to it. I know all the 'nuts and bolt...

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi there hansencomputers, welcome! I also use Linux Mint as my main desktop+development OS, and now so does my not-really-techy wife, after she had a go with Win10 on her new laptop, and asked me for Linux instead. She mostly likes the switch. The Mrs. dabbled in a bit of programming recently;...

Re: Issue when getting file size

By the way, do you have any news about https://visopsys.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=292&start=10#p1463 ? I could test your debug builds Sorry mate I wish I could say I'd started on this, but right now I'm pushing to finish the 0.9 features that I've been promising for so long. I imagine that I'm...

Re: Porting GCC to Visopsys?

That would be great, it's been on my wish list for a while, and it would be a good one to have as the first meaty installable package from the new software repository. I think being able to do development would also require a decent editor :-) It's been a while since I looked at porting gcc, but it'...

Re: Translating Visopsys OS

Hi, Andy. Can you send me new PO files to modify translate for new version? Liss21@yandex.ru Will do Liss. I'll generate the PO files as one of the final steps. I'm planning to switch everything over to UTF-8 with 0.9, which mostly only affects the fonts though - with the PO files it's as simple as...
