Re: Tutorial: Compile VisOpSys
Andy - my last x86 machine died a couple weeks ago, leaving me with no way to run Virtualbox. So, the only way I can run Visopsys is with Qemu. I've been slowly migrating everything I have over to ARM boards - even graphics and video editing. But, I'm thinking I may try one of the Up Squared boards,...

Re: Tutorial: Compile VisOpSys
@all: I wonder what happened to Bostontrainer. It's good info he gave tho ... I don't remember how well VisOpSys runs under VirtualBox, because I've been in "Qemu only" mode for quite a while. I wonder if VirtualBox supports the pcnet adapter? Never mind. I just found this thread: https://...

Re: My experiences with Visopsys install on QEMU virt disk
The DHCP thing is no big deal. I'm just glad it's working. Can't wait for the first of the TCP stuff you've coded, so that I can experiment that ...

Re: Visopsys 0.82 released
Yeah - I use QEMU, since I'm kind of a free software nut. I have pictures of RMS all over my house. Kidding!

Re: My experiences with Visopsys install on QEMU virt disk
The installer works just fine when there's no panic. Click, click and done. But, a person can get caught in a loop if a panic occurs and the disk is partially set up. I went round-and-round for a while myself. Otherwise, with no panic, this thread is entirely unnecessary, and most people could navig...

Re: Visopsys 0.82 released
I should mention that my Odroid-XU4/Gentoo QEMU emulator setup is version 2.11.0. Anyway, the first time I tried the network with QEMU + Visopsys, I used the realtek 8139 driver, which Visopsys didn't recognize. I remembered, from looking at the source code, that you had a Lance driver in there. So ...

Re: My experiences with Visopsys install on QEMU virt disk
Andy: Now I remember why the "hd0a" partition is there. The first time I use the installer, it shows no disks or partitions. Then I click the partitioner. At that point there is only an "Empty Space" line visible in the partitioner, so I click on it and go thru the steps I've out...

Re: My experiences with Visopsys install on QEMU virt disk
Networking ... This is starting to be very interesing. Andy's recent work on the system is a quantum leap for networking. I'd not really been very successful with the network stack before version 0.82. But, things are really starting to look a lot better. I noticed that previous versions of Visopsy...
