graphics help

Post by sycamoreent »

Ok, so Andy, the developer, requested that he and I continue our discussion about graphic design on this forum.
To bring ya'll up to speed, I requested to help with the gui and icons. Andy seems to like that idea so here I am, wanting some assignments. :ugeek:

Can you post some of the examples/mockup that you created, and we can discuss specifics?

Hopefully the board is set up correctly to allow users to post images, etc... ;)

So here's the screenshot that you used for the mockup, yes?

I think I personally prefer the bolder primary colours, even though I know the dark colours, browns and dark greys, are popular nowadays.

I really like your hard disk icons, and the CD one goes well with them.

The floppy one, I'm not sure. It looks very cool, but I don't know if it's better. Same with the folder icons, though I'm open to being convinced. Thoughts?

I really like the 'programs' icon too.

The 'shell' one is good also.

lol those aren't really what I would use. Those icons are just some ones I made before, and i just used them in the mockup. If I were to do this, I would make entirely new ones.

Well, I guess any of the existing icons, if you want to make a replacement set, or just replacing individual ones. Things like the window taskbars and buttons can be redesigned if you have some ideas, etc. Whatever you like, it's really up to you!

ok, this may seem insane, but bear with me.
Here is an icon I made for the administration section:

My idea is to make little painted creatures for the icons.
This may sound wako as first, but here's my thinking.

A. It would be cute and attractive
B. It would make your os unique
C. It would give a more artistic look to your os, since they would be painted

Let me know what you think.
(this is where I got the idea kinda.)
