Did you mount the filesystem as old-style 8.3 MS-DOS, at some time? That might have caused conversion of the directory entries to the old style.

Really it should be mounted as VFAT (FAT32) with long filename support.

I don't think I did that intentionally... What exactly should I remount? I assume that it's the filesystem that install.sh sets up? But then that makes no sense...
